❝Dance must have another reason than simple technique and routine… It is not about art, nor is it about simple knowledge. It is about life, about finding a language for life. And it is always about something that is not yet art and could become art. ❞
(Pina Bausch)

ALEJANDRA GUTTY
DANCER | INTERPRETER | tango COACH
From the iconic “Forever Tango” at Broadway’s Shubert Theater, to the starring role in the film “Un tango más/Our Last Tango,” Alejandra Gutty’s exquisite style is identified by intense emotional content and refined aesthetics. ‘Talking Broadway’ said, “Her figure is monumental, with wonderful curves in her legs that eclipse Cyd Charisse in her MGM days.”
Parallel to her path as a dancer, Alejandra develops Tango Coaching®: an innovative approach to tango dance, a proposal recognized and consolidated worldwide. She is regularly invited as a Jury in major competitions, including the World Tango Championship and its venues.

I had the pleasure of sharing several areas of work with Alejandra and the honor of being her choreographer in a film work for the Chinese public TV, she as a professional is intense, passionate, curious and as a performer besides her physical qualities she has a talent that combined with her personality makes her unique...her legs have been compared to Cyd Charisse's in New York newspapers, that comparison is an understatement, but not her talents as a dancer.

I met Alejandra Gutty in 2014 when we filmed 'Un tango más'. I had heard a lot about her and her great talent as a dancer. But upon meeting her personally and seeing her dance in front of our camera, I realized that her talent was even greater than I had imagined. Alejandra was one of the protagonists of the film. Working with her was a real luxury. I learned a lot from her. From what is important for a dancer at the moment of getting on stage. In 2021 I called her again for the filming of my movie 'Adios Buenos Aires'. Working with Alejandra is beautiful, because she is a beautiful person and because, like any great artist, she is totally devoted to what she does.

To define an acclaimed artist, it is often enough just to mention his/her name. I am convinced that Alejandra Gutty is in that range. Personally, it was a great pleasure to have her as the protagonist of the musical "Calles de Tango". When I had almost decided not to do the play, life and tango crossed my path with her. At that moment I knew I had the ideal protagonist. It was not an easy task to tell a tango story where the protagonist was a woman who danced, interpreted and had the necessary experience to take on such a task. It was definitely the best choice. Today, I can say that I also gained a friend with whom, from time to time, I have a coffee.

I first collaborated with Alejandra to create images in 2014. I shared with her
a vision of how I wanted to photograph her, and the experience was so stimulating and rewarding that we have continued to work together on many projects since then. Every gesture, every look she offers is imbued with authenticity and depth. Alejandra is the kind of artist who constantly questions and expands the boundaries of her own creative universe, and in doing so, invites others to question and expand theirs.
