We study:
How to release and sustain: chest relaxation without losing power.
The use of pushes, spirals, and pivots as a stopping point.
The importance of timing in the construction of movement.
How to build an effective dance that is expansive through connection and coordination.
Sequence/exercise:
We practiced in pairs with a ‘line turn’ sequence: forward, side, backward, with a stop at the forward crossing to change direction. Both roles ‘at the same time’, in mirror. The biggest challenge: understanding that SYNCHRONICITY and COORDINATION take time.
‘We do deliberate practice to master the task, not to finish it.’
